Kirsten’s Fainting Spell:

“Can you believe it?” Kirsten asks Emily. “It has been six weeks since we moved here and adoptive mom STILL has not unpacked any of our stuff! Adoptive dad FINALLY bought me my bed last fall and now I don’t even get to use it!”

“Calm down Kirsten” Emily soothes. “At least it is not as bad as Michigan. Remember where you had to sleep before Sir built the bunk beds?” Emily asks. “You mean the pillows? We don’t even have THAT right now.” Kirsten replied. “No, no.” Emily says, slightly exasperated. “I’m talking about the doll stands. Remember how you told me that before I joined the family you used to have to sleep standing up in a doll stand?”

Kirsten turns away with disgust. “Yeah, but this isn’t much better. We just stand or sit on this shelf all day long. I want to have some fun! I want adoptive mom to buy or make me something! You know what she is? She’s lazy! Why else hasn’t she unpacked our belongings yet?”

Emily places her hand on Kirsten’s shoulder. “Adoptive mum is NOT lazy. Didn’t you hear? This is only a temporary place. We’ll be moving to a house soon! Adoptive mum has been busy with all kinds of house preparations.”

Kirsten turns back to Emily, “Oh really? Well prove it! Prove that adoptive mom is not Mrs. Lazy!” Emily sighs, “Very well. Come with me.”

Kirsten follows Emily down the hallway to adoptive mom’s desk. “Come up here” Emily calls to Kirsten.

Meanwhile, back on the shelf, Samantha is talking very animatedly to Molly and Kit. “So I don’t know if I should tell her to keep hiding or not!” Samantha worries. “I know Kirsten wasn’t too happy when I joined the family last year, though Emily was very welcoming. When Kit joined, she seemed slightly upset. But after our adventures with the new package back in January, I’m afraid she’ll see this as a threat to her status in this family.” “Hmm,” Molly ponders. “You probably should have brought this to our attention sooner Samantha.” “Well I wanted to, but we were never alone without Kirsten until now.” Samantha explained. “She has a good point Molly” Kit added.

“Where is she now?” Molly asked. “Kirsten?” Kit asked confused. “No…” Molly responded. “She’s having limb surgery” Samantha answered. “Okay, well I don’t think she should have to hide any longer. I think you are under estimating Kirsten’s ability to be gracious.” Molly chided.

Samantha and Kit look at each other with raised eyebrows. “Umm” Samantha begins. “Don’t worry!” Molly interrupts. “I’ve been spending these last few weeks going over the family albums and stories. Did you know that before Emily joined the family Kirsten complained of being lonely?” Molly asked a now speechless Samantha and Kit. “Look, it is right in ‘Kirsten Goes to AGPC'” Molly explained to the girls. “So here is our strategy, IF Kirsten reacts badly, then we just remind her that she wanted sisters!” Molly finishes triumphantly. “Umm, but that said ‘A sister’, not ‘sisterS'” Samantha replies. “Don’t worry!” Molly says. Everything will work out fine.

Back on adoptive mom’s desk, Kirsten joins Emily on top of the desk. “See here?” Emily asks as she flips through a binder. “Missus has been gathering all sorts of information, signing legal paperwork, and following up with insurance companies and banks. She has it all in here.” Kirsten looks critically at the notebook. “That doesn’t look too hard. I still think she could have unpacked our things.” Emily sighs “what are we going to do with you” she mumbles under her breath. “What?” Kirsten asks. “I’m sorry?” Emily innocently asks. “You…” Kirsten trails off as something catches her eye.

“What’s this?!” Kirsten exclaims picking up a small note on the desk. “AGFMB Sewing Swap mail-out on July 25th” Emily reads. “Oh, it sounds like a sewing swap, just like the one that was going on last summer when Samantha arrived.” Emily remembers.

“A sewing swap!” Kirsten shrieks, startling Emily. “Hey look at that mail-out date!” Kirsten exclaims. “With 1st class or priority mail, ours should arrive today!” Kirsten rambles on excitedly. “We should go get the mail! Come on!”

Kirsten quickly jumps down from the desk and dashes off with Emily trailing behind. “But what about last time? We’re not supposed to go outside the apartment on our own?” Emily’s shouts are falling on Kirsten’s deaf ears, but the other girls on the shelf hear and come running.

As the others catch up with Emily, a sudden scream splits the air. “Kirsten!” Emily worriedly exclaims. The girls rush to the source of the scream and…

…come to a dead-halt. Kirsten had run into a surgery situation and promptly fainted. “Who is that?” Emily wonders aloud. “Is that her?” Molly asks Samantha. “Yes.” Samantha replies. “Her who?” Asks Emily. Quickly Molly catches Emily up on the prior conversation. “Hmm, what should we do with Kirsten?” Kit asks. “Let’s move her to a pillow” Molly decides.

The girls lift Kirsten and carefully place her on the pillow.

“I’ll go check on the surgery patient” Samantha offers and dashes off.

“I hope Kirsten will be alright.” Emily frets. “She’s a tough cookie, she’ll be fine” Molly assures her best friend.

A little while later Samantha returned with her new friend, together carrying a box. Kirsten was still unconscious. “Everyone, I’d like you to meet our new sister, Addy. Addy, this is Emily, Molly, & Kit. The unconscious one is Kirsten.” Samantha introduced everyone. After all the sisters said their hellos, Addy looked questioningly at Kirsten. “Kirsten walked in while you were having surgery.” Samantha said by way of explanation.

Just as Samantha finished speaking “Mmmm Hmmph” was heard coming from Kirsten. The box being left, all the sisters rushed around Kirsten as she started to open her eyes “I… uh…” Kirsten mumbled through half open eyes.

Kirsten’s eyes popped open.

Suddenly Kirsten jumped up and backed away screaming “y-y-your head was missing” she shouted to Addy. “Wh-wh-what are you?!” All the other sisters burst into laughter. No one had seen Kirsten scared before.

“Kirsten” Samantha began once she was able to get her laughter under control. “This is our new sister Addy. “NEW sister?” Kirsten asked starting to recover from her scare. “Yes, she joined our family back in May but has been undergoing surgery and other things in preparation to join us.” “MAY?!” Kirsten shouted. She hated being left out of the loop.

“Hello Kirsten” Addy said as she bravely stepped forward. “Samantha told me all about ya’all and I’ve been so excited to meet everyone. I’ve been lonely of late and am so happy to have sisters!”

At Addy’s mention of loneliness, Kirsten’s features softened. Of course it didn’t hurt that she spied the box behind Addy. “Welcome to the Historical Sisters!” Kirsten exclaimed, much to Samantha & Kit’s surprise.

And she gave Addy a big hug!

After giving Addy a hug, Kirsten immediately got to the point. “So what is in that box” she asked. “Box?” The sisters asked. Being worried about Kirsten, the other’s had not noticed that Addy & Samantha had brought in a box.

“Oh!” Samantha exclaimed. “THAT box. Adoptive mom said to bring it in here. She says it is for one of us, but she doesn’t know who.”

“Well what are we waiting for?” Kirsten shouted, “let’s open it!”

The girls all gathered around the box while Kirsten rips into it.

“Who wants to read the card?” Kirsten asks, anxious to see what else is in the box but not wanting to be scolded by Emily for skipping the card. “I will” offers Molly.

Molly reads “Michelle I chose a swim suit for Samantha. Hope she enjoys it. She also has an AG size potted plant to grow, aiding her butterfly adventures. Chris ‘doc2dolls'”

“Awww!” Kirsten exclaims. “It is for Samantha!” Kirsten eyes the paper in the box one last time then turns to walk away.

“Kirsten!” Emily reprimands her. “You should be happy for Samantha! After all, you already have many more things than she does.” Emily gently reminds Kirsten.

Kirsten sighs, then turns and walks up to Samantha. “It’s for you” she says. Samantha smiles “Thanks Kirsten.

Samantha walks over to the box and reaches into the tissue paper.

“What do you think?” Samantha excitedly asks as she holds up the new outfit & plant.

“Oooooh” come the chorus of sounds from the sisters. “Why can’t I have a swimsuit?” Kirsten mutters to herself until she receives a slight jab from Emily. “It’s very nice” Kirsten dutifully says. “Why don’t you try it on for us?” Emily pleasantly asks. “OK!” Samantha agrees, her eyes dancing.

“Well?” Samantha asks when she returns.

“You look ready to go swimming!”

Samantha loves her new swim suit. Thanks again, doc2dolls!
