The Historical Sisters decorate for Christmas:

“Tomorrow is the first day of Advent” Kirsten comments. “As Lutherans we observe the four Sundays before Christmas as Advent. A time to prepare for Christmas.” Kirsten explained as she set up the Nativity set. “Anglicans, also observe Advent” Emily replied as she helped to adjust a tree branch. Samantha and Molly worked on the lights. “My family goes to church on Christmas Eve” Molly spoke up. “It is always beautiful with candles and everything!” Samantha finally speaks “Well I’m just glad we can finally decorate for Christmas! Adoptive dad’s insistence on waiting until Advent almost drove me crazy!”

(*note, Roman Catholics and other denominations also observe Advent but only Kirsten & Emily’s denominations can be ascertained from the books)

“Ahhh!” Kirsten yelped. “Don’t worry,” Molly assured her. “I just flipped off the lights for a moment to see how the tree looks.” “Well warn us next time!” Kirsten replied.

Molly turned the light back on. Kirsten looked up at the lit tree for a moment. “Hmmm, it looks a bit bare.”

“I think you might be right.” Molly said after a short pause.

“Oh but it still looks beautiful.” Emily, ever cheerful reminds everyone.

“But what could we add Molly?” Asks Samantha.

“Hmph, it was MY idea that the tree was bare. Why ask MOLLY?!” Kirsten grumbled to herself. Looking down at the Nativity she was reminded of the reason for Christmas and was quickly humbled. “Do you have any ideas Molly?” Kirsten asked.

“How about this Gold beading?” Molly suggested with a smile. “It’s beautiful!” Samantha agreed. “Just what Gandmary would use.”

“They’re going off” Molly warned as she flipped off the lights again.

“These ornaments are beautiful” Emily commented after the lights came back on and Kirsten handed out the ornaments from the box.

“This one came from Maine.” Molly said with a smile. “I like the heart because Maine will always be in my heart. I lived there for about 13 years you know. Ever since Michele, ‘Adoptive mom’ was 13.”

“Well this one is from Minnesota. I’ve never been there but adoptive dad is from Minnesota.”

“Mine is from Maine… too” Kirsten tried to think of something that made hers unique. “It is a circular wreath, just like what I wear on my head for St. Lucia’s day.” Kirsten smiled at her sister’s questioning looks. “I’ll explain more about that later.”

“Mine is also from Maine” Emily quietly commented.

“All our ornaments are beautiful and special”

The girls chatted happily as they decorated their tree.

“Kirsten, you did a marvelous job setting up the Nativity” Emily complimented. “Thanks” Kirsten replied “it’s one of my favorite parts of decorating for Christmas.”

The girls chatter happily as they continue to decorate for Christmas and admire their handiwork.

“We’ve made a beautiful tree” Kirsten comments. “Yes we have.” Samantha agrees.

“It’s beautiful because we all worked on it together” Molly wisely states. “I’m so pleased to spend this Christmas with all of you” Emily happily sighed.
